Sign me up (!) if... ...it's anything like Maximum PC which is about the only subscription I usually keep paid up. Great Idea for US, out here in user-land...sounds like a lot of management headaches for the Editor-to-be and Staff, tho...just something about the feel of glossy, expensive paper and photos and all that graphic content and Tech Notes that appeals to me. I'd pay a comparable $$ amount for an annual 12 copies, with CD, in plastic, delivered right to my door once a month. Hmmm...scary overhead, tho...got this thread on my 'watch' list for sure!

Damn facists. Editing my words. HOW DARE YOU?

Please allow me to rephrase:

As someone who modifies their windows operating system (that's me), if I saw that magazine on a shelf, I would consider it a complete waste of money. I would also be wary of anyone who owned such a magazine, especially if they were behind me as I was bending over to pick something up.

That looks *not so good*.

Looking at your profile, it would seem that you only modify through the work of others anyway. I would think that you especially would appreciate a few free themes, not to mention some good advice from some of the best skinning talent on the web, but I guess that is too obvious an observation to make. Besides, the concept is what is actually being discussed, not the content. The graphic and the content are merely the idea, not the intended final product.

I appreciate the comments, but perhaps you would humor us with a better idea or something original of your own?

Not quite sure what a 'facist' is....perhaps someone who has a 'face'?.

Now 'fascist'....that makes a wee bit more 'sense' though quite off the mark.

The options are...

1. Comment appropriately.

2. Comment inappropriately and be subjected to alteration/deletion.

3. Do not comment.

It's not 'fascism' it's the authority of a Private site's administrators to determine what is, or is not appropriate....

Thanks Jafo. Now back to my Photoshop to create some more [ahem] wallpapers...

Being an avid magazine buyer I certainly would buy it, now only if it was real, I prefer printed magazines to anything online and I don't even know if Wincstuomzei magazine is still published, I don't read any email on the account that stardock sends emaiuls to.

now only if it was real,

That was kind of my point. I think there is real viability in the US market for a magazine like this. There are no real alternatives, so it is an instant self-made niche. Who can compete? Seems natural, and you have the opportunity for all sorts of advertising inside the mag, and counter advertising on this site for subscriptions etc... the content would be excellent as evidenced by the authors contributing here, and you even have tons of interactive content you can edit for magazine interest on specific points. This is a sure sell... time to find a publisher I think.

Yes! Here's a solid customer. I mentioned another magazine before, don't know if it was appropriate or not , but its format seems to be more-oriented toward a bit of fun and tongue-in-cheek content than others, although also quite informative and technically rewarding at times. Makes this subscriber feel more 'part of' than others,as does WC I, too, think the timing and niche are perfect. Looking forward to the development and, ultimately, the first shiny copy in plastic, with the optional CD, sticking out of my mailbox and at the local checkout stands! Amazing idea! Wonder if ad-content pays for a greater percentage of o'head...or subscriptions, 'checkstand-compulsivenes', or what...

Absolutely! No question.

Sembetu.....I'd most certainly be interested in such a magazine, but I'm not a part of the U.S. market and wonder about distribution in Australia, should it come to fruition. If it could be distributed here at a comparable price to local productions that'd be great, and if I ever missed an issue, I could always raid the magazine rack in jafo's dunny to catch up.

Well, there's the million dollar catch isn't it...?! I pay $15.99 US for magazines now that cost about £5.99 GBP. I don't know how the conversion works out going to Australia, but I imagine a U.S printing would go for a similar conversion of shipped. One way to avoid this would be to digitally distribute it to a print house in Australia and have it printed domestically there. I wish some of the Brit Rags would do that here.
